Itineraries For The Culture Enthusiasts
ESCAPE PLAN 1
In The Heart Of The People
Go on a 9 night cultural experience into the heart of Africa and her people for an authentic and untouched journey.
Days 1 to 2
On arrival into Harare International Airport guests will be met by a Safari Escapes team member, and you will be transferred by road to Armadale Lodge in the suburbs of Harare. Here you will be welcomed for a nights stay on a Bed & Breakfast basis.
Days 2 to 4
The following day you will be embarking on the journey from Harare to Great Zimbabwe, which shouldn’t take more than 6 hours. Remember to pack water and snacks for the road, and enjoy the scenic journey across Zimbabwe. Once you have arrived, you will be welcomed at The Lodge at the Ancient City for 2 nights on a Bed & Breakfast basis. The Lodge at the Ancient City provides distinctive accommodation for guests, with furnishings that provoke thoughts of royal dwellings of African legends. All rooms are decorated with a warm and inviting ambiance. Using the lodge at Ancient City as your base, you’ll be able to explore the wonders of Great Zimbabwe, a ruin from the Middle Ages that is shrouded in mystery and local legend.
Days 4 to 6
After packing up and checking out of The Lodge at the Ancient City, you will be transferred by road to Camp Amalinda, which will take approximately 8 hours. Pack your drinks and snacks and enjoy the carefree scenic ride through African countryside. You will then be staying at Camp Amalinda for 2 nights on a Fully Inclusive basis. The camp is located in the heart of Matoba Hills, a beautiful granite rock kingdom, that has been home to many different cultures through the millennia. It is also the home to black eagles and to rhino, where if you’re lucky, you might see these during your stay.
Days 6 to 8
The next day will take you from Camp Amalinda to Bulawayo airport, to catch a short scenic flight to Hwange, where you will be met and driven to the remote and wild Bomani Tented Lodge to stay for the next 2 nights on a Fully Inclusive basis.
Days 8 to 10
From Bomani Airstrip, you will be hopping on another short scenic flight to Victoria Falls, for the last 2 nights of your adventure. Upon arrival at the airport, you will be greeted and transferred to The Vic Falls Hotel, which was originally conceived as accommodation for workers on the Cape-to-Cairo railway. This stay will include a great breakfast to get your adventurous days started.
