ZIMBABWE’S
HWANGE NATIONAL PARK
Hwange is Zimbabwe‘s largest National Park and is also its premier safari destination. A Hwange safari is in close proximity to Victoria Falls, making it an accessible and popular destination to the international safari seeker. The park is home to four of the Big Five and sightings of large herds of elephant and buffalo are very common. There is also a good chance of seeing cheetah and wild dog. Zimbabwe’s national animal is the regal Sable antelope which is found in Hwange in healthy population. Birdlife is also prolific in Hwange. Secretary birds and Crowned cranes are a common sight where water is close by.
The park has many water holes that the wildlife congregate around, mainly during the heat of the day. Hwange is largely flat country interspersed with large tracts of grassland, teak and mopane forests, with an abundance of game and bird life.
